| Sensing edges are
obstruction sensing devices which are designed primarily to protect
personnel and equipment in industrial environments. They are
typically mounted on the leading edge of a moving object such that
the sensor is activated when it meets an obstruction. As the sensing
edge deforms, a stop signal is initiated and the edge then acts as a
'cushion' to allow the moving parts to come to rest without exerting
excessive force on the obstruction.
Tapeswitch sensing edges are available in a range of different
profiles and sensitivities to suit the demands of the application.
The construction of the sensing edge is based on a continuous length
of 'press-at-any-point' Tapeswitch encased in a durable housing
material which is fitted into a choice of channel to allow more
versatile mounting arrangements.
